"Just Chess, No Stress," is the theme for this year's chess club. We checkmate every Wednesday directly after school, from 2:55pm to 3:45pm. All levels of chess players are welcome, from beginners to advanced. Come make friends and learn the value of chess strategies!
Christ the King has an active math club with over 40 students participating in 4th through 8th grade (roughly 20% of the students eligible).
Math club members compete in a number of competitions throughout the year including Math is Cool, MOEMS, Math Counts, Catholic Math League and Purple Comet.
Recent awards for the math teams have included numerous Math is Cool chapter team championships and individual trophies at Math is Cool chapter competitions.
Last year, the 8th grade team capped a five year run of excellence with a State Championship in Math is Cool.
CK was also one of only four schools in the state of Washington to achieve Gold Club level in Math Counts. CK has also advanced two students to the State Math Counts competition, including a 2nd place individual finish in the local chapter competition with other top local area schools (Carmichael, Enterprise and Chief Joseph).
Cub Scout Pack 249 is an organization for boys in Kindergarten-5th grade. While our pack is chartered through the Christ the King Parish, we have scouts from all across the Tri-Cities involved with our pack, and attendance at Christ the King School or Parish is not a requirement. Boys work in dens with others in their same grade to earn belt loop awards, culminating in their advancement to the next rank at the end of the year.
The pack, which includes all dens, meets monthly for pack meetings and awards, as well as participates in a number of community events such as Sausage Fest clean-up and flag ceremony, CK Trunk or Treat, holiday caroling at local retirement facilities, and much more.
Scouts work as a pack during the annual Trails End Popcorn fundraiser which helps scouts to pay for pack activities such as Day Camp, Resident Camp, individual scout belt loops and advancement awards and a number of other activities.
If you are interested in getting involved in this amazing opportunity, contact Cub Master Adam Kornbau for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
